The Accidental IT Manager · First 30 Days Toolkit
Suddenly in charge of IT? Here are your first 30 days.
A step-by-step toolkit for the executive, office manager or operations lead who just inherited the company's technology. Find out what you have, protect what matters, and hand leadership a clear plan by day 30.
Who it's for
You didn't apply for this job. It found you anyway.
"Our IT person gave two weeks' notice. Nobody else knows the admin passwords."
The IT person left"We ended the contract with our IT provider, and all they handed back was a spreadsheet."
The MSP contract ended"I'm the one who's good with computers, so now the server is my problem too."
The business outgrew itYou don't need to fix everything in 30 days. The goal is to understand what you inherited, reduce the most serious risks, document the environment, and finish with a prioritized plan.
The 30-day plan
Five phases, from "what do we have?" to "here's the plan."
Each phase has a short list of tasks. Every task links straight to the register, checklist or plan where you record the answer.
Days 1–3
Discover what you inherited
A basic map of systems, accounts, vendors, risks and unknowns.
Week 1
Protect the business
Critical access, backups and security controls verified.
Week 2
Document everything
Core IT inventory and ownership records established.
Week 3
Establish operations
Onboarding, offboarding and maintenance routines documented.
Week 4
Prepare for trouble
Recovery priorities, incident actions and a 90-day roadmap.
Inside the app
One workspace instead of a folder of templates.
See where you stand at a glance: assets, renewals, backup coverage, admin accounts without MFA, and how far along the 30-day plan you are. Shown with the included fictional example company.
Work through the phases in order. Tick tasks off, keep notes, and jump straight to the register or checklist each task needs.
Reports fill themselves in from your registers and progress. Add your own words, then export to Word or print to PDF.

Questions
Before you buy
Do I need to be technical?
No. It's written for business people who were handed IT. Each task explains what to look for and why it matters, and a built-in glossary covers terms like MFA, DNS and RTO.
Is this a subscription?
No. You buy it once and keep the file. There's no account and nothing to renew.
Where is my information stored?
In your web browser, on your own computer. Nothing is sent to KDO Tek or anyone else. Because it lives in your browser, download a backup file regularly; the app reminds you.
Does it work on a Mac?
Yes. The toolkit runs in any modern browser on Windows or Mac. The two bonus PowerShell scripts are for Windows PCs.
Can my team use it?
Yes. One purchase covers one organization, including its employees and contractors. A separate licence is needed for each unrelated client or company.
Is it legal or cybersecurity advice?
No. It's a practical organizing and learning tool. Review the policies and plans with your own advisors before you adopt them.
